benshi.ai, an AI organization with the mission of nudging patient and provider behaviors towards better health outcomes, is delighted to announce the incorporation of Susan A. Murphy, Ph.D., as special advisor.
Dr. Murphy is Mallinckrodt Professor of Statistics and of Computer Science at Harvard University, and Radcliffe Alumnae Professor at the Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University. Her research focuses on improving sequential, individualized decision-making in health, in particular clinical trial design and data analysis to inform the construction of just-in-time adaptive interventions delivered by mobile devices. The lab she leads also works on online learning algorithms for developing personalized digital health interventions.
Due to her vast experience and expertise in these areas, Prof. Murphy's advice on the development of personalized interventions and the design of experimental setups to assess their efficacy is an incredibly valuable asset to benshi.ai. Indeed, these are the two key elements of our approach to boosting the outcomes of patients, pharmacists and front-line health workers by democratizing data-driven technologies, using personalization and leveraging behavioral machine learning in global health.
Prof. Murphy is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and of the National Academy of Medicine, both of the US National Academies. In 2013 she was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship for her work on experimental designs to inform sequential decision making. She is a Fellow of the College on Problems in Drug Dependence, Past President of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and Past President of the Bernoulli Society, and a former editor of The Annals of Statistics.
