Andrés Estévez Costas

Fullstack Engineer

Andrés is a software engineer with extensive experience in both hands-on and team leadership positions. He holds an MEng in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vigo, with a specialization in Telematics Engineering, and a Free-Software Master from the University Rey Juan Carlos and Igalia. He also started a PhD in the field of Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Vigo.

Before joining benshi, he worked as lead frontend engineer at Centum Research & Technology, a company specializing in airborne mission systems, where he helped to build the user interface software for search-and-rescue missions. Previously he worked as a software engineer for Anube Sport, developing algorithms and data visualization tools for sport monitoring, with a focus on world rally car competitions.

Andrés acquired plenty of team leadership experience at Quobis Networks, a company that focuses in the installation and maintenance of voice over IP solutions. There he helped to create a videoconference product from a very early stage and a full collaboration suite ready for business needs that included other real time features, all while coordinating a team that grew almost four times larger during his time in the firm. Thanks to these efforts, Quobis became a reference company in WebRTC.

In his free time, Andrés loves nature sports such as hiking or mountain biking. He also used to collaborate as a volunteer with the NGO Engineering Without Borders, organizing courses and activities to raise awareness of some world inequalities.
