Anna Guitart Atienza

Head of ML Science

Anna is a data scientist specializing in survival analysis, time-series forecasting, ensemble methods, recommendation systems, and personalization algorithms. Her current research interests focus on the theory and application of causal inference and experimental design.

Before joining benshi, she was a senior data scientist at Inditex, the world's biggest fashion retailer. There, she predicted the demand for physical stores and e-commerce, optimized supply chain processes, and developed a framework to simulate the impact of Covid-19 on sales by shop. From 2015 to 2019, she was a data scientist for Yokozuna Data, in Tokyo, where she helped to develop from scratch a state-of-the-art machine learning platform that predicted the behavior of individual video game players and sent them personalized incentives to increase engagement.

Anna holds MSc degrees in Artificial Intelligence (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and Theoretical Physics (University of Barcelona). She has coauthored 12 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, presenting many of them at top-tier scientific conferences. She has also received several accolades. For example, she was the first author of the study that received the best paper award at the 2018 Future of Information and Communication Conference. She was also part of the team that won the game data mining competition hosted at the IEEE's 2017 Conference on Computational Intelligence and Games.
